We are the avengers for the wild!
Extinction of wildlife used to be because of Natural Selection. However once us Humans have figured out the way to out smart Natural Selection, we have started to exploit the planet as well. With increasing population, urbanization of the wild, abusive use of animals and unregulated hunting, we have now accelerated the rate of global species extinctions.
More than half a million species on land "have insufficient habitat for long-term survival" and are likely to go extinct, many within decades, unless their habitats are restored. The oceans are not any better off. - UN report: Humans accelerating extinction of other species
Our ex-curator Arch and vice-curator Flo have co-founded Wildchain in efforts to help raise funds for wildlife conservation. Wildchain is an online platform that gamify fund raising by linking the world of entertainment with real world wildlife conservation efforts.
Many of our Shapers are interested in conservation efforts and we have joined forces with Wildchain in launching Art For Wildlife.
The campaign revolves around using art as a way to tell stories about the drivers for extinction while creating funding for grass-roots wildlife conservation efforts.
